As Christmas is finally here we can put aside all the hustle and bustle that leads up to it. The shopping, the baking, the planning and even the unwrapping of gifts. With all of that said and done, take a moment to reflect on why we do all of it.
Christmas is not just about family and loved ones. It’s about God’s ultimate love for us, his family, that he sent his son. Here is God, the creator of everything, simply wanting to have a relationship with me. And you. And the rest of the world. He wanted that relationship so much that he sent his son to live among us. To tell us how we can truly know God.
Many of us would go miles out of our way just to see the president, or a king, or a congressman. But here, God went miles out of his way just to be with us.
As you give gifts and enjoy the holiday, please remember that we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Without this blessed day, we would have no hope for truly knowing God’s love. “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 NIV)
