Yahoo! has rolled out a contextual search tool called Y!Q, which allows users to launch Yahoo searches by highlighting words or phrases in viewed documents. The tool also allows you to refine the context of your search and then displays results in window that originates from the toolbar, eliminating the need for a seperate search results browser window.
True to form Yahoo! continues its quest to copy good ideas from truly innovative companies like Mozilla who have offered a contextual search feature in their FireFox browser since its release. If the lack of originality wasn’t enough, the thought of adding another unnecessary toolbar to my browser is nauseating at best.
